Bom April 17, 1861, in Plymouth, Mass. Died February 20, 1939, in Pasadena, Calif Father, Rev Isaac Cushing White (B A Oberhn 1845), a Congregational mimster, son of Isaac Hersy and Harnet (Hardmg) White of Abington, Mass Mother, Hannah Bardett (Sampson) White, daughter of Schuyler and Mary Ann (Bartlett) Sampson of Plymouth, Mass Pnvate tutor and Phillips-Exeter, B A Harvard 1884; engaged m general study at home 1884-85, mstructor m classics Drury College 1885-87, attended Yale Divinity School 1887-90 (B D 1890), ordamed for foreign missionary service Ehot Church, Newton, Mass., September 11, 1890, served m Japan under Amencan Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions 1890-1919, stationed at Okayama 1890-96 and Tsu- yama 1896-1919, delegate from Tsuyama church to National Meeting of Japanese Churches 1908; retired 1919 and had smce resided m Pasadena where he did church work among Japanese, translated mto Japanese The Miracles of Jesus and Prolegomena to Systematic Theology by E.
