Studied law m office of Bnstow, Peet & Opdyke, New York City, and special student Columbia Umversity Law School 1891-92, admitted to bar between 1892 and 1897, in office of Wetmore & Jenner, lawyers, New York City, 1892-97, practiced law mdependendy m New York City 1897-1922, deputy to receiver Amencan Loan & Trust Company 1899-1902, moved to Albany 1922 and untd 1925 spent major part of time working on history of Delaware and Hudson Company (published in 1925 under title A Century of Progress), retired in 1925 and spent some tune m free lance wntmg for magazmes, progressive candidate from 15th Assembly distnct New York City for State legislature 1914 and also a candidate in 1927, on executive committee Yale Alumni Association of Northeastern New York 1928-29, member Bar Association of the City of New York, attended St Andrew's Church (Episcopal), Albany. Marned Aprd 30, 1919, m New York City, Josephine, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Blodgett) Doane No chddren. Death due to artenosclerosis Ashes interred m Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Newark, N J Survived by wife Harvey [Williams] Cushing, B.A. 1891. Bom April 8,1869, tn Cleveland, Ohio. Died October 7,1939, in New Haven, Conn. Father, Henry Kirke Cushing, LL.D. (B A. Umon Coll 1848; M D. Umv of Pennsylvania 1851), a physician m Cleveland, professor of ob- stetncs and gynecology Western Reserve Medical School; trustee Western Reserve Umversity, surgeon major 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during Civd War; son of Erastus Cushing (MD. Berkshire Medical Institution 1824) of Cleveland and Mary Ann (Piatt) Cushing of Lanesboro, Mass Mother, Betsey Mana (Williams) Cushing; daughter of Wilham and Lucy (Fitch) Williams of Cleveland. Yale relatives include Wilham W. Crehore, '86, Albert C. Crehore, '90, Perry W. Harvey, '91, Allyn F Harvey, '93, Edward M Williams, '93, Louis W. Ladd, '95, Lewis M Williams, '98, and M Clark Harvey, '99 (cousins); and Kirke W Cushing, '15, E Harvey Cushing, *I9, and Benedict Crowell, Jr, £v-'34 (nephews). Cleveland Central High School.
