52 Yale University Obituary Record and m Meuse-Argonne offensive, when regiment was assigned to duty with Fifth Army Corps September 21,1918, acted as chief salvage officer of corps and later as corps athletic officer during penod of rest at Nogent- en-Bassigny which followed armistice; on demobilization of regiment served successively m office of Assistant to Secretary of War, War Plans Division, War Department General Staff, and in Office of Adjutant General, Recruiting Division, honorably discharged from emergency commission as Colonel of Infantry and commissioned Major, Quartermaster Corps, Regular Army, September 23, 1920; m office of Quartermaster General, Washington, D C , 1920-24 (managmg editor Quartermaster Review, assigned to The President's Conference on Unemployment 1921-23, chief histoncal division, Administrative Service, and chief Graves' Registration Service 1923-24), assigned to staff of Major General J H McRae as division and post quartermaster and post surveying officer, Philippine Division and Fort Wilham McKmley 1924-26; with New York General Intermediate Depot, Brooklyn, 1926-27, post quartermaster Fort Myer, Va , 1927-32, Colonel retired smce October 31,1932; awarded Distinguished Service Medal August 24,1922, and Conspicuous Service Medal (New York State) 1923, president Society of Sdunans 1939-40, member Society of the Cincinnati, Society of Colonial Wars, Sons of the Revolution, Society of the War of 1812, and Masomc order; attended Episcopal church Married February 3,1897, m New York City, Kitty Quinan, daughter of Brace and Kate (Quinan) Hayden Chddren. Reginald Hayden (B.A. Princeton 1921), and Murray (B S. Princeton 1924). Mr. and Mrs. Foster were divorced. Death due to coronary thrombosis Buned m The National Cemetery, Arlmgton. Survived by sons, two grandchddren, and a brother, Maximilian Helland Foster, of New York City. Leland Ingersoll, B.A. 1891. Bom July 30,1870, in Champaign, III Died May 3,1940, at Niagara Falls, N.Y. Father, Joseph Ingersoll of Cleveland, son of Joseph andjerusha (Nye) Ingersoll of Lee, Mass, and Elyria, Ohio Mother, Nettie (Fletcher) Ingersoll, daughter of Rev Darnel Leland Fletcher and Mary Arm (Car- ley) Fletcher of Chester, Vt. Central High School and Brooks Military Academy, Cleveland, attended Western Reserve Umversity 1886-87; entered Yale College 1887; second colloquy appomtment Jumor and Semor years. Studied law m office of Boynton, Hale & Hore, Cleveland, 1891-93;
