Yale relatives mclude a brother, Edward A Colby, '80 S. St Johnsbury Academy; B A. Dartmouth 1872 (member Delta Kappa Epsdon and Phi Beta Kappa); attended George Washmgton Law School 1874-75 (LLB 1875) and Yale Graduate School (M.A. 1877); clerk Committee on Revision of the Laws, Umted States House of Representatives 1873-75, admitted to Washmgton (D C ) bar 1875, Connecticut bar 1878, and New Hampshire bar 1889, in office of Scudder & Carter James C , *oi Hon ], New York City, for a short time 1875; practiced aw m New Haven, Conn , 1878-85, mstructor in political economy Yale Umversity 1878-81, secretary New Haven Civd Service Reform Association 1881-85, instructor m history Dartmouth College 1885-93 and first Parker Professor of Law and Political Saence 1885-1916, Parker professor ementus smce 1916, lecturer in jurisprudence and international law Boston Umversity School of Law 1905-23, LLD Dartmouth 1901; author "Disfranchisment For Crime" in Three Papers on Crime (1883), Legal and Political Studies in Dartmouth College, 1796-1896 (1896); editor Manual of the Constitution of the State of New Hampshire (1902 and 1912) and A Sketch of English Legal History by Fredenc W.
