Died March 22,1940, in Coconut Grove, Fla Father, Charles Ames, a farmer m Kaneville, 111; son of Avery and Annis (Ames) Ames of West Rutland Mother, Adeha Desiah (Ward) Ames; daughter of Chauncey and Perley L (Scott) Ward of Kaneville Jennings Seminary, Aurora, 111 ; attended Wheaton (111) College 1870-72, Western Reserve Umversity School of Medicme 1872-73, Yale School of Medicme 1873-74 (M D 1874), and Umversity Medical College, New York Umversity, 1880-81 (MD 1881); practiced medicme and surgery Sherman, N Y , 1874-92 and Kalamazoo, Mich , 1892 until retirement m 1939, one of the founders of New York State Medical Society, member Kalamazoo Academy of Medicme, Michigan State Medical Society, Amencan Medical Association, and Masomc order Marned October 25,1876, m Kaneville, Cornelia Annette, daughter of Thaddeus and Elizabeth Annette (Hawley) Hoyt Chddren* Jessie Hoyt (B A Kalamazoo Coll 1905 and Umv of Chicago 1906, died March 18, 1936), and Thaddeus Hoyt (B A Umv of Michigan 1905, M.D 1907) Mrs Ames died December 23,1934 Death due to artenosclerosis Buned m Kaneville. Survived by son and two grandsons Dr Ames made a bequest to the Umversity to estabhsh the Edward Ames Scholarship Fund, the income of which is to be used to assist a student m the School of Medicme.
