Father, James Davies, a real-estate dealer m London; son of Thomas Davies of Clun, Wales Mother, Ellen (Davies) Davies King's College School, London; graduate Cheshunt College, Cambridge, England, 1886; attended Yale Divinity School 1886-88 and 1889- 00 (BD 1888), and Yale Graduate School 1893-96 (PhD 1896); ordained m Congregational church, Calumet, Mich, December 5, 1888; minister Red Jacket, Mich, 1888-89, Greens Farms, Conn., 1890-94, First Church, Derby, Conn, 1894-96, Rocky Hill, Conn, 1897-98, Storrs, Conn , 1898-1901, Wdhngton, Conn., 1899-1901, and Westville, Conn , 1901-03, ordained deacon in Episcopal church 1903 and pnest 1904, mimster St John's Church, Salisbury, Conn, 1903-07, Chnst Church, Easton, Md, 1907-22 (organized Boy Scout Troop and scoutmaster 1912-22), Trinity Church, Colhngdale, Pa, 1922-32; chaplain Philadelphia Protestant Episcopal City Mission 1932-38; examining chaplain Diocese of Easton and Diocese of Pennsylvania, member staff Diocesan Normal School 1930-35; lecturer on history of phdosophy Yale Umversity 1896-1904 and on esthetics 1900-04; author: Art in Education and Life (1914); contnbuted to American Journal of Ethics, Philosophical Review, Psychological Review, encyclopedias, and newspapers; after retirement m 193 8 resided m Laurel, Md ; member Authors League of Amenca, Masomc order, and St. Philip's Church, Laurel (acting mmister 1939-40).
