Parents, Benjamm Wdson and Corinne May (Reynolds) Jackson Clarksburg High School and Broaddus Classical and Scientific Institute, Clarksburg; attended West Virginia Umversity 1909-11, Yale College September-October, 1911, and Yale School of Law 1911-14 (LLB 1914, secretary 1912-13 and president 1913-14 Law School YMCA.; member Kent Club and Corbey Court), practiced law m New York City until 1917, m Clarksburg 1921-24, and m Washmgton, D.C , 1924-39; commissioned Second Lieutenant, U S Marine Corps, August 3,1917, promoted Fust Lieutenant February 1,1918, and Captam June 1, 1918, assigned to Machine Gun Company, 6th Regiment, 4th Bngade, 2d Division; overseas October 14,1917-December 22,1918, and took part m engagements at Verdun, Belleau Woods, Pont-a-Mousson, Soissons, St-Mihiel, Champagne, and m the Argonne, awarded Croix de Guerre October 3,1918, discharged Apnl 1,1919, member Amencan Bar Association and Baptist church Unmarned Death due to artenal hypertension. Buned in Clarksburg, W Va Survived by no immediate relatives Russell Jay McCaughey, LL.B. 1922. Bom September 27,1897, in Chicago, III. w Died April 30,1939, in Chicago, III Father, Francis Peter McCaughey, a railroad contractor, son of Patnck Edward and Sarah Ellen (McBnde) McCaughey of Indiana and Illinois Mother, Ehzabeth (Cullen) McCaughey; daughter of Michael and Rebecca (Jay) Cullen of Illinois.
