Cook Company, manufacturers of wood-screw machinery, Hartford; member Board of Aldermen; son of John and Sarah (Sinclair) Cooke of Sandwich, N H Mother, Mary (Cole) Cook; daughter of John and Elizabeth (Ames) Cole of Dracut, Mass. Yale relatives mclude a cousin, Francis C. Pratt, '88 S Hartford Pubhc High School. Entered with Class of 1888 and treasurer of its football club Freshman year, secretary and treasurer Sophomore year, second glee club two years, Umversity Banjo Club five years and president Semor year, Semor Promenade Committee; member Gamma Nu, Eta Phi, Psi Upsdon, and Wolf *s Head Studied law m Hartford 1889-92, admitted to Connecticut bar 1892 and Washington bar 1893, practiced law in Seattle 1893-95; in busmess with his father 1895-1905, general agent Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, Hartford, 1905-16; president Asa S. Cook Company 1916 until retirement 1924, resided m Pans, France, 1924-32; former member Company K, Connecticut National Guard; member South Church (Congregational), Hartford. Marned October 14, 1891, in Hartford, Charlotte Gray, daughter of Charles and Hannah Boyd (Miller) Beckwith and sister of Richard L. Beckwith, ex-98 Children. Beatnce, Charles Beckwith, '18, and Laura Taft (died May 25,1928) Death due to coronary thrombosis with infarction Buned in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Survived by wife, one daughter, son, two grandchddren, and a sister, Mrs. Phdemon Wolcott Robbins of Or- mond Beach, Fla. Joseph Ralph Ensign, B.A. 1889. Born November 24, 1868, in Stmsbury, Conn. Died January 22, 1941, tn Stmsbury, Conn.
