Green, 1896- 97; admitted to the bar 1897; lawyer m Holyoke 1897-1940, specializing in probate and corporation law; member Green & Bennett and Green, Bennett & Lyon, Holyoke and Springfield, 1900-40, served m Massachusetts General Court 1902 and 1903, Umted States Commissioner at Holyoke 1924-40; director Holyoke Boys' Club and Holyoke Pubhc Library; on advisory board Salvation Army and Holyoke Home for Aged People; chairman budget committeer Holyoke Community Chest, member Holyoke, Hampden County, and Massachusetts State Bar associations and St. Paul's Church (Episcopal), Holyoke (vestryman 1904-13, junior warden 1913-33, semor warden 1933-40); trustee Diocese of Western Massachusetts. Marned November 10, 1903, in Holyoke, Ahce Ehzabeth Whiting (B.A. Wellesley 1900), daughter of Edward Gustavus and Hannah Amelia (Higginbottom) Whiting Chddren* Fredenck Whiting (died September 21,1904), Ahce Ross (B A Wellesley 1929, M.A. 1934), and Joseph Langford (died December 25,1913) Death due to coronary occlusion. Buried in Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke. Survived by wife and daughter. William Redmond Cross, B.A. 1896. Bom June 8, 1874, tn South Orange, NJ. Died November 16, 1940, in Princeton, NJ Father, Richard James Cross, partner Morton, Bliss & Company, bankers, New York City, son of William and Anna Chalmers (Wood) Cross of London, England Mother, Mathdda (Redmond) Cross; daughter of Wdham and Sabina (Hoyt) Redmond of New York City Yale relatives mclude Roland Redmond, '66 (uncle), and John W. Cross,Jr, ex-31, andH. Page Cross, '32 (nephews) Groton School.
