68 Yak University Obituary Record Thomas Kearny, B.A. 1899. Born March 6, 1878, tn Louisville, Ky. Died July 13, 1942, in New York City. Father, Bngadier General John Watts Kearny (LLB Columbia 1866) of Kearny, N J, and Lewis Mountain, Charlottesville, Va ; Inspector General of New Jersey, son of Major General Phdip Kearny (B A Columbia 1833) and Diana (Bulhtt) Kearny of Paducah, Ky Mother, Lucy (McNary) Kearny, daughter of Dr. Thomas McNary and Anne (Flournoy) McNary of Princeton, Ky. Westmmster School, Dobbs Ferry, NY., and Phdhps-Andover. Member Umversity Club (assistant treasurer Jumor year, member executive committee and governing board Semor year) and Psi Upsdon. Attended New York Law School 1899-1901 (LL B. 1901) and took special courses m law at the Umversity of Virginia 1901, admitted to the bar 1901; lawyer in New York City 1901 until retirement 1933 (with Gould & Wdkie for a short time; partner Kearny & Davis 1905-11 and its successor Kearny & Dickinson 1911-18), founder member Pan Amencan Society, Inc., 1912, member councd 1912-34, on executive committee 1912-16, and elected honorary hfe member 1938, author General Philip Kearny, Battle Soldier of Five Wars (I037)» a biography of John Watts, Jr, wntten for pnvate circulation, and several articles on histoncal subjects, New York regional president Longstreet Memonal Association, honorary president Kearny's First New Jersey Bngade 1925-42, honorary member General Phihp Kearny Post Grand Army of the Repubhc, member New York State Bar Association, Bar Association of the City of New York, Amencan Bar Association, and Roman Cathohc church. Unmarned Death due to a heart attack Buned m Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, N.Y Survived by three sisters, Miss Mary Kearny of New York City, Mrs. Ehzabeth Kearny Hibbard of Charlottesville, and Mrs. Lucy Kearny Hill of Richmond, Va , and a brother, Phihp Kearny, £#-'99 George Lincoln Wakefield, B.A. 1899. Bom January 31, 1873, in Singapore, Straits Settlements Died January 12, 1943, in Englewood, NJ. Father, Cyrus Wakefield of Wakefield, Mass ; president Wakefield Rattan Company, Boston, son of James Patterson and Hannah B (Hall) Wakefield of Winnebago County, Wis Mother, Annie Bentley (Pierce) Wakefield, daughter of George and Annie (Bentley) Pierce of Liverpool, England Yale relatives include two nephews, John U Barton, '44, and Richard S Barton, '45W.
