Member Umversity Club and Alpha Delta Phi. Engaged m textile busmess in South Carolina 1916-17 and Easthampton 1919-42, assistant treasurer and assistant secretary Hampton Company 1926-29, vice-president 1929-38, president and general manager 1938-42; president Hampton Spinning Company, Clover, S C , 1938-42, vice-president Albert H. Vandam Company, Inc, New York City, 1932-42, secretary Hawthorn Spinning Mills, Clover, 1919-29, civilian mstructor Umted States Navy Ground School at Massachusetts Institute of Technology December, 1917, commissioned Ensign, U S Naval Reserve Flymg Corps, February, 1918; assigned to Ground School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, until June, 1918, when detached to Ground School, 13 th Naval District, Seattle, where he served as ordnance officer and mstructor m ordnance, gunnery, and bombmg, discharged February, 1919, member Masonic order and First Congregational Church, Northampton, Mass Marned December 26, 1918, in New York City, Sara Madeline Eldon (Smith Coll ^-'19), daughter of Wilham McKee and Anna (Bare) Eldon. Chddren Anne (B A Vassar 1941), Mary Elizabeth, and Hugh, Jr Death due to carcinoma Buned m Spring Grove Cemetery, Northampton. Survived by wife, chddren, a sister, Mrs Robert C. Born July 8,1896, at Lake Placid, N Y. Died Febmary 18, 1943, in Providence, R.I. Father, Frank Mauran (Ph B.
