Mother, Ida Bell (Noble) May Lincoln School and Negro Industnal High School, Birmingham, B A Talladega College 1934 (member Alpha Phi Alpha), attended Yale School of Law 1934-37 (LLB 1937, member The Thtomas Swan Barristers' Umon), admitted to the bar but never engaged m practice, on pohce force of New York City 1941-42, member Congregational church. Marned in December, 1941, m New York City, Mrs Reba Forman Murray. Death due to drowning Buned in Flushmg (N Y ) Cemetery Survived by wife, parents, two brothers, John and Thomas May, a sister, and a stepson, Douglas Murray, Jr John Milton Avery, Jr., LL.B. 1939. Bom June 22, 1913, in Ticonderoga, NY Died August 9, 1942, in Norwalk, Conn Father, John Mdton Avery (B A Middlebury Coll 1911), attorney National Life Insurance Company, Montpeher, Vt; son of John and Edith Ann (Severance) Avery of Walhngford, Vt Mother, Ida Gertrude (Speyer) Avery; daughter of Fred J. Speyer of Ticonderoga Montpeher High School and Williston Academy, Easthampton, Mass , B A cum laude Middlebury College 1936 (member Kappa Delta Rho and Phi Beta Kappa), attended Yale School of Law 1936-39 (LL B 1939), admitted to the bar 1940, associated with Harry R Sherwood ['99 L ], town counsel, Westport, Conn, 1939-42; member Masonic order and Christ Church (Episcopal), Montpeher Unmarned Death due to acute ddatation of the heart Buried in Green Mountain Cemetery, Montpeher Survived by stepmother, a brother, Herbert Edward Avery (B A Middlebury Coll 1938) of East Hartford, Conn , and a half sister, Edith Kathenne Avery (Middlebury Coll 1945)
