68 Yale University Obituary Record daughter of James Boyce and Mary Ann (Phelps) Montgomery, sister of Phelps Montgomery, '95, and half sister of Henry M. Montgomery, ex- '84 S. Children: Lewis Vanck, '26 (died March, 1931), Phelps Montgomery (died August 18, 1923), and Antoinette Wood, the wife of Francis McNeil Bacon, 3d (B.A. Harvard 1921). Mrs Frissell died September 11,1931. Married (2) September 27, 1934, in Newport, R.I., Ethel Hope Bennett, daughter of James and Charlotte Armstrong (Thomson) Hope. Death due to occlusion of cerebral artery Buried in Berkeley Memorial Cemetery, Newport. Survived by wife, daughter, two grandchildren, a stepdaughter, Hope Bennett Wyeth, the wife of Walter Francis Wyeth (B.A. Harvard 1929), and a sister, Mrs. Jerome Kidder of Farmington, Conn. Mrs Frissell has presented to the University the two collections made by her husband and these will bear his name—one, Sandwich glass, plates, and pens, the other, adases and maps. Yandell Henderson, B.A. 1895. Born April 23, 1873, in Louisville, Ky. Died February 18, 1944, in La Jolla, Calif. Father, Isham Henderson (graduate Centre College 1842), a founder and owner Louisville Courier-Journal, organizer and builder of engineering works, son of Isham and Harriotte (Kirtley) Henderson Mother, Sally Nielsen (Yandell) Henderson; daughter of Lunsford Pitts Yandell (M D. Umv Maryland 1825) and Susan Juliet (Wendell) Yandell. Yale relatives include a brother, Isham Henderson, '99. Private tutor and Chenault's School, Louisville. Oration appointment Junior and Senior years, member Yale Union Attended Yale Graduate. School 1895-98 (Ph.D. 1898; member Sigma Xi). Played important part in development of physiology in the United States; studied at universities of Marburg and Munich 1899-1900; assistant in physiological chemistry Yale University 1898-99, instructor in physiology 1900-03, assistant professor 1903-11, professor 1911-21, professor of applied physiology and director laboratory of applied physiology 1921-38, professor of physiology emeritus 1938-44; member Naval Militia, Connecticut National Guard, 1897-99; enlisted United States Navy June 14, 1898, assigned as Ensign to cruiser Yale, a troop transport, member first expedition to Puerto Rico; discharged August 8, 1898; consulting physiologist United States Bureau of Mines 1913-25 and on Bureau's commission for the study of ways and means of decreasing poison gas hazards in
