Born August 9, 1892, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Died September 11, 1943, in Waterbury, Conn. Father, John Coombs, a publisher; one time editor Canadian Royal Gazette, son of Benjamin and Mary Coombs of Charlottetown. Mother, Ada Christina (Barr) Coombs, daughter of James Baker and Grace (Tip- pett) Barr of Charlottetown. Lawrence (Mass ) High School, teller Bay State Bank of Lawrence 1911-15, attended Harvard University 1915-20 (special student Harvard College 1915-16, 1919-20, and Harvard Divinity School 1916-18), the Sorbonne 1919, Columbia University 1920-21 (B.A. 1921), and Yale Divinity School 1921-23 (B.D. 1923); ordained in Trinity Church (Congregational), Lawrence, June 7, 1923; assistant minister First Congregational Church, Meriden, Conn, 1923-25; associate minister Second Congregational Church, Waterbury, 1925-43; served overseas during World War I, member Masonic order. Unmarried Death due to cerebral hemorrhage Buried in Riverside Cemetery, Waterbury Survived by a sister, Martha Ruth Coombs Buck, the wife of Robert W Buck, '14.
