35^ Yale University Obituary Record member Saybrook College and Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue, Montreal. Married July 23,1941, in Montreal, Sara Helen Westheimer (B A. Smith Coll 1941), daughter of Milton F. Westheimer, ^-'94, and Helen Braf- man (Gutman) Westheimer (B.A. Goucher Coll. 1901). Withdrew from college to enter Royal Canadian Air Force as aircraftsman two October 11,1940; trained at Rockchff Air Port (Ottawa), Initial Training School (Toronto), and at Malton, Ontario; received training in bombing gunnery at Jarvis, Ontario, and in astronomical navigation at Rivers, Manitoba, stationed at Debert, Nova Scotia; promoted aircraftsman one February 3, 1941, and leading aircraftsman; attached to Royal Air Force Flying Corps, received observer's wings and sergeant's stripes June 7, 1941; sent to England September^, 1941, acting as navigator on the flight; advanced training at an operational training umt in England; member Moose Squadron, attached to Royal Air Force; promoted flight sergeant on completion of over thirty operational flights March 1, 1942; took part in the first thousand-plane raids over Cologne and Bremen in May, 1942, instructor at a Canadian station in England September, 1942, promoted Pilot Officer October 19, 1942. Pilot Officer Jacobs was killed in an airplane crash over England. Survived by wife, mother, and three sisters, Mrs. George J. Rosengarten, Mrs. N. Warner, and Miss Deborah Jacobs, all of Westmount, Quebec. Malcolm Gardner Main, B.A. 1941. Born February 15, 1919, in Harrisburg, Pa. Died November 13, 1942, in the Southwest Pacific. Father, William Robert Main (B A. Allegheny Coll. 1907), resident partner Main and Company, certified pubhc accountants, Philadelphia; son of Thomas Wilbur and Barbara Gardner (McNaughton) Main of Titusville, Pa. Mother, Helen Christine (Fellows) Main (B.A. Wilson Coll 1906, M.A. Columbia Umv 1907); daughter of Eugene Doud and Iola (Seagraves) Fellows of Scranton, Pa. Swarthmore (Pa ) High School, McDonogh (Md.) School, and Phdhps-Andover Scholar of the second rank Freshman and Sophomore years, scholar of the third rank and oration appointment Junior year, high oration appointment and honors in English Senior year; Freshman Soccer Squad and Track Team; University Track and Cross-Country teams three years (captain Cross-Country Team Senior year); winner Wilhsbrook Cup Senior year, member Undergraduate Athletic Association, Yale Political Union, and Pierson College Attendant Swarthmore Friends Meeting.
