Died February 11, 1945, in Bay Pines, Fla Father, David Boughton Hamilton, president Rogers & Brother (now International Silver Company) and Manufacturers National Bank, Waterbury; senator from fifth district in Connecticut General Assembly session of 1881; son of David and Deborah Knapp (Boughton) Hamilton of Danbury, Conn. Mother, Mary Elizabeth (Birely) Hamilton, daughter of Lewis and Catherine Deborah (Krebs) Birely of Frederick, Md Yale relatives include a half brother, Paul D. Hamilton, '94 S., and a half nephew, David B. Hamilton, '28 S. English and Classical School, Waterbury, and Hopkins Grammar School, New Haven, Conn. Third mathematical prize Sophomore year, president Bicycle Club Senior year (broke Yale and intercollegiate two- mile record Sophomore year) Levelman Meriden & Waterbury Railroad Company 1886-87 and transitman 1887-88; first assistant engineer Confluence and Oakland Railroad (Calif.) 1888-89; manager Layton (Pa.) Paving Brick Company 1889-91; associated with Banker and Campbell Company, manufacturers of bicycles, 1891-94; division engineer Cross Creek Division of Pittsburgh, Carnegie & Western Railroad, Independence, Pa., 1894-98; commissioned Second Lieutenant, 1st Regiment Volunteer Engineers, Presidio of San Francisco, June 23, 1898; transferred to 2d Regiment; promoted First Lieutenant April 24, 1899; stationed at Honolulu August, 1898-April, 1899; mustered out of service April 28, 1899, with rank of Captain, held a government position in the Philippines; engaged in building bridges in Siam and Ceylon 1907-12; engineer in Los Angeles 1912-14, an assistant engineer E. I. duPont de Nemours & Company, Penns Grove, N-J , 1916- 17 and Worth Steel Company, Claymont, Del, 1917-19, draftsman Bureau of Surveys, Department of Public Works, Philadelphia, 1919-24; assistant engineer Department of City Transit, Philadelphia, 1924-28 and New Jersey State Highway Department, Cliff side, Lodi, and Midland, 1928- 33; retired in 1933 and had since resided in Florida.
