Buried in Ottumwa (Iowa) Cemetery Survived by wife, two sisters, Mrs Hilda A Larson of Turlock, Calif, and Mrs Victoria A. Encson of Wakefield, Nebr., and a brother, Rev Alexis Andreen, ^-'00 D. Two other brothers, Gustav A Andreen, '94, and Philip Andreen, ex~9y G, died in 1940 and 1933 respectively. Enoch Frye Bell, B.A. 1898. Born May 26,1874, in North Hadley, Mass. Died June 10, 1945, in Clifton Springs, N.Y. Father, Rev James Madison Bell, D.D (B A. New York Univ. 1854; grad. Andover Theological Seminary 1857), a Congregational minister in Massachusetts and New Hampshire; son of Thaddeus and Eleanor (Youmans) Bell of New York City Mother, Susan Foster (Frye) Bell; daughter of Enoch and Mary (Foster) Frye of Andover, Mass. Yale relatives include two nephews, Ernest W. Spring, '24 S., and Thaddeus G. Bell, '45W Oct. S. Phillips-Exeter. Honor division Freshman year; high oration appointment Junior year; oration appointment Senior year; Freshman Glee Club and Apollo Glee Club Freshman year; chairman Freshman Religious Committee; member Phi Beta Kappa. Attended Auburn Theological Seminary 1898-99 and 1900-02 (B.D. 1902), Yale Divinity School 1899-1900, and Andover Theological Seminary 1905-06 (graduate 1906); supplied his father's pulpit for six months in 1901, ordained Congregational minister by Middlesex Association, North Leominster, Mass., May 23, 1902; associated with American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions 1902 until retirement 1944 (missionary in Sapporo, Japan, 1902-04, instructor in psychology and history Kobe College 1904 and Doshisha University, Kyoto, 1904-05; assistant foreign secretary, Boston, Mass., 1906-10, associate secretary 1910-21, editorial secretary 1921-43, editor Missionary Herald 1921-42; librarian and historian 1942-44); D.D.
