Died August 18,1944, in the Pacific area Father, G. Arthur^ Gordon, '92 S Mother, Margaret Cameron (McGuire) Gordon. Yale relatives include: George A. Gordon (B A. 1849)(great-uncle); William W. Gordon (BA. 1854)(grandfather); Wilham W. Gordon, '86 S. (uncle). St. Paul's School, Concord, N H Scholar of the second rank Sophomore year and of the third rank Junior year; oration appointment Junior and Senior years; winner Spring Tennis Tournament Freshman year; on editorial board Class Book; member Elizabethan Club, Timothy Dwight College (hockey and tennis teams three years; captain tennis team Sophomore year; Senior aide; captain in budget drive Senior year), Delta Kappa Epsilon, Skull and Bones, and N R O T.C (commissioned Ensign June, 1938). Graduated from School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance, New York University, 1939; in credit department Central Hanover Bank and Trust Company, New York City, 1938-40; during 1938-40 devoted much time to work for St. George's Church at Rainsford House, of which he was the first head; investment analyst and account manager Minis & Company, Savannah, 1940; secretary Savannah Yale Club 1941-42; Alumni Fund Agent 1938-42; member Christ Church (Episcopal), Savannah. Unmarried. Called to active service August 14, 1940; recruiting officer Naval Recruiting Office, Savannah; executive officer, inshore patrol section base, Naval Reserve Armory, South Jacksonville, Fla, March-October, 1941; served aboard U S S Emerald, promoted Lieutenant (j g.) January 6, 1942, Lieutenant June 15, 1942, and Lieutenant Commander March 15, 1944; operations officer Mayport (Fla ) Naval Base January-May, 1942, gunnery officer aboard U S S. Mar\astte May-October, 1942; executive officer U.S.S. Htlo October, 1942-November, 1943 (took part in Papuan and New Guinea campaigns), and U S.S. Wachapreague March-August, 1944* ! Death due to acute myocarditis. Survived by mother, two sisters, Mary G. Piatt, the wife of Richard Shackleford Piatt (Univ. Michigan ex-26) of St. James, N.Y., and Margaret Eleanor Gordon, W.A.C. (B A. Sweet Briar Coll. 1944), and a brother, Major G. Arthur Gordon ('34), A.U S.
