Scholar of the third rank Sophomore year; oration appomtment Junior and Senior years; University Baseball Squad Junior and Senior years; member Silhman College, Fence Club, and Book and Snake. Member St. Joseph's Church (Roman Catholic), Garden City. Unmarried Enlisted as aviation cadet July 2, 1941; trained at Spartan Field, Tulsa, Okla, and Goodfellow and Brooks fields, Texas; received wings and commissioned Second Lieutenant February 20,1942; promoted First Lieutenant February 11,1943, assigned to 345th Bomber Squadron, 98th Bomb Group, 9th Bomber Command of the 9th Air Force, stationed in the Middle East, January, 1943; as pilot of a B-24 Liberator took part in missions over North Africa, Sicily, and Italy; awarded Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, and Air Medal with four bronze and one silver Oak Leaf Clusters. Lieutenant Dore did not return to his base after the raid on the Ploesti oil refineries in Rumania August 1,1943. (In compliance with Section 5 of Public Law 490, as amended, the presumptive date of death was fixed as August 2, 1944 ) Survived by parents and a brother, Lieut.
