Yale College 217 ber 10-December 12, 1942 (graduated as pilot and commissioned Second Lieutenant December 13,1942); promoted First Lieutenant September 18, 1943; served with Ferrying Squadron, Air Service Command, September, 1943-February 18, 1945; based in western England, northern Ireland, and Scotland, and did much flying over France, Italy, and Africa; during last few months before his death had done special weather reporting. Lieutenant Congdon was killed when his plane crashed during a routine weather flight. Buried in American Military Cemetery, Cambndge, England. Survived by parents and a brother, James Buffum Congdon, '46 March. Eugene Pierre Cyprien Constantin, 3d, B.A. 1944. Born June 19, 1922, tn Tulsa, 0\la. Died April 16, 1945, on Okinawa, Ryu^yu Islands. Father, Eugene Pierre Cyprien Constantin, Jr. (B.A. Jefferson Coll. 1914), an independent oil producer, rancher, and producer of beef catde, registered catde, sheep, and goats; president Paluxy Asphalt Company, refiners and marketers of petroleum products, Dallas, Texas; son of Eugene Pierre Cyprien and Melodia (Bourg) Constantin of Tulsa. Mother, Ruth Marie (Fitzpatnck) Constantin; daughter of Robert Gregory and Lulu (Withers) Fitzpatnck of Wichita Falls, Texas. Highland Park High School, Dallas, and Phdhps-Andover. Entered college in October, 1940; Freshman Football Team and Junior University Football Team Sophomore and Junior years; Junior University Wresding Team; member Jonathan Edwards College (Alumni fund agent; in Gdbert and Sulhvan productions two years), Yale Key, Elizabethan Club, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Scroll and Key, and Aurehan Honor Society; awarded B.A. March 25, 1944. Member Holy Trmity Church (Roman Catholic), Dallas. Unmarried. Member Marine Detachment Navy V-12 program at Yale July i-Octo- ber, 1943; received boot training at Parns Island October-December, 1943; member Candidates Detachment, Camp Lejeune, January-March, 1944; attended Officer Candidate School, Quantico, March-August; commissioned Second Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, August 28, 1944, assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 6th Marine Division; in 26th Replacement Draft, Camp Pendleton, September-December; sent overseas in December, 1944. Lieutenant Constantin was instantly killed by enemy fire when his company spearheaded the attack on Mt Yaetake (renamed Constantin Hill), breaking all organized enemy resistance on Motobu Peninsula. Survived by parents, paternal grandmother, and maternal grandfather
