296 Yale Umversity Obituary Record Death due to pulmonary tuberculosis. Buried in Sheves Achem Cemetery, East Haven, Conn. Survived by mother and a brother, Benjamin Edward Chain of New Haven. Another brother, Dr. Wilham H. Chain, '18, died in 1943. David Edward Gagel, Ph.B. 1919. Born March 11, 1897, in West Haven, Conn. Died August 19, 1944, in Ogontz, Maine. Father, Edward Gagel, chief engineer New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Company; son of Christian and Anna Louise (Aulinger) Gagel of New York City Mother, Jennie Field (Smith) Gagel; daughter of David J and Adeline (Ketcham) Smith of Dunmore, Pa. Cheshire (Conn.) Academy and Phdhps-Andover. Mechanical engineering course, member student branch American Society of Mechanical Engineers, enlisted as chief machinist's mate, U S. Naval Reserve Force, March 15, 1918; stationed at district salvage station, New London, Conn , until discharged January 11,1919; returned to college and awarded degree in 1921. Associated with C. W. Blakeslee & Sons, Inc., New Haven, 1920-22; because of ill-health had been unoccupied for many years and resided much of the time in Arizona; member Yale Engineering Association and West Haven Congregational Church Married (1) September 11, 1926, in New Haven, Nettie Caroline, daughter of Marcus and Harriet (Wilson) Holmes. Son: Edward, 2d. Mrs Gagel died August 31,1943. Married (2) June 17,1944, in Brookline, Mass, Dorothy Johnson Adams, daughter of Melvin Maynard Johnson, LL.D, L.H.D. (BA. and Ph.B. Tufts Coll. 1892; LL.B. Boston Univ. 1895), and Ina Delphene (Freeman) Johnson. Death due to coronary occlusion. Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven Survived by wife, son, and a sister, Anna Smith Gagel (cert. Yale School of Music 1913). Donald Warren McCrosky, Ph.B. 1919. Born March 24,1898, tn Buenos Aires, Argentina. Died November 13, 1944, in Lansdowne, Pa. Father, James Warren McCrosky (B S. Univ. Nebraska 1891; P.A.E. Johns Hopkins Umv 1894), manager foreign trade department Bankers Trust Company, New York City; son of Charles and Elizabeth (Warren) McCrosky of Tecumseh, Nebr Mother, Josephine (Tremain) McCrosky (B A Umv Nebraska 1893, MA. 1894); daughter of Lucien and Sarah (Flagg) Tremain of Lincoln, Nebr.
