Sheffield Scientific School 317 William John Cameron, Jr., Class of 1945W. Born January 29, 1924, in Maplewood, N J. Died August 9, 1944, near Daytona Beach, Fla. Father, Wdham John Cameron (B A Univ. Toronto 1911), executive vice-president Home Life Insurance Company, New York City Mother, Mary Lee (Smith) Cameron (BA. New Jersey State Teachers Coll. [Newark] 1913). Pingry School, Elizabeth, NJ. Entered Yale in July, 1942; industrial administration and engineering course, member First Presbyterian Church, Orange, N J Unmarried Withdrew from college February 1,1943; entered active service as cadet, Naval Air Corps, March, 1943; preliminary flight training, Cornell University, March-May, 1943; preflight training, Chapel Hill, N.C, June- September, 1943; primary flight training Peru, Ind., October-December, 1943; intermediate flight training Pensacola, Fla., January-May, 1944, received wings and commissioned Second Lieutenant, U S Marine Corps Reserve, May 26, 1944; transferred to Daytona Beach Naval Air Station for advance squadron drill as fighter pilot May 26-August 9, 1944, flight leader for his squadron which was destined for active duty in the Pacific area. Lieutenant Cameron died when his plane crashed during a combat training flight near Daytona Beach. Buried in Fairview Cemetery, West- field, N J. Survived by parents, a sister, Mary Agnes Cameron Marshall (B.A. Wellesley Coll. 1938), the wife of Arthur Van Cott Marshall of Maplewood, and maternal grandmother. Charles St.Clair Elder, Jr., Class of 1945W. Born February 15, 1924, in Mineola, N.Y. Died January 5,1945, tn Bury St. Edmunds, England. Father, Charles St Clair Elder of Garden City, N Y , a marine underwriter with Chubb & Son, New York City, and vice-president Federal Insurance Company. Mother, Etel (Horvath) Elder. Garden City High School and Taft School for Boys, Watertown, Conn Entered Yale in July, 1942; member Cathedral of the Incarnation (Episcopal), ^Garden City Unmarried Withdrew from college February 1, 1943, to enter Army Air Forces, received cadet training with College Training Detachment, Bucknell University Junior College, and successively at Nashville, Tenn, Maxwell Field, Ala., Lodwick Field, Lakeland, Fla , Courdand (Ala ) Army Base, and Freeman Field, Seymour, Ind, where he received bomber pilot's
