School of Engineering 323 Lieutenant Miller lost his life over Merseburg, Germany, while on his fifteenth bombing mission in a B-17 (Flying Fortress). Survived by parents, a sister, Mary Jewett Miller (B.A* Univ. California at Los Angeles 1945), a brother, William Ross Miller, and maternal grandmother, all of Los Angeles. James Baume Stryker, Class of 1945W. Born October 30,1924, in Omaha, Nebr. Died December 5, 1944, m Germany. Father, Hird Stryker (Ph B. Univ. Chicago 1914; J D. Harvard 1916), formerly partner Crofoot, Fraser, Connolly & Stryker, Omaha Mother, Ruth Estey (Baume) Stryker (B A. Wells Coll. 1917). Central High School, Omaha. Entered Yale July 15, 1942; engineering science course; awarded New York Yale Club charm for scholarship Freshman year; member Freshman Debating Team, Jonathan Edwards College, and First Methodist Episcopal Church, Omaha Unmarried Member Army Enlisted Reserve Corps at Yale, withdrew from college May 15,1943; entered active duty as private, Infantry, June 14,1943; sent to Fort McClellan for basic training June 28, 1943, and went overseas December, 1943, received further training in England with Company K, 116th Infantry, 29th Division; participated in action in Normandy on D-Day; promoted private (1st class) in June, 1944; wounded in action July 12, 1944; rejoined his division after hospitalization in England for a month; held Combat Infantryman's Badge. Pfc. Stryker was killed in action at Hasenfeld Gut, Germany. Buried in American Military Cemetery, Margraten, Holland Posthumously awarded the Order of the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. Survived by mother, a sister, Barbara Stryker (Umv Nebraska 1945- ), a brother, Capt. Hird Stryker, Jr., A U S (B S Northwestern Umv 1940; Umv Michigan Law School 1940-42), and paternal grandmother, all of Omaha, MASTER OF SCIENCE IN TRANSPORTATION Howard Shepley Langford, M.S. 1930. Born September 22, 1908, in Embro, Ont, Canada. Died March 30, 1945, in London, Ont, Canada. Father, Rev. Frederick William Langford (B A. Umv Toronto 1905; MRE. Boston Univ. 1918), dean Emmanuel College, University of Toronto; son of Ephraim and Jane (Lanmn) Langford of Ontario
