Father, Finton McEvoy, an ecclesiastical outfitter in New York City Mother, Mary (Lawlor) McEvoy, daughter of John Lawlor of Waterbury. Waterbury High School; attended St. Francis Xavier College [NY] 1895-96 and Yale School of Law 1904-07 (on board Yale Law Journal 1905-07; Class Day Committee; member Corbey Court); admitted to the bar 1907; lawyer in Waterbury 1907-45 (associated with Mayor Francis P. Guilfoile 1912-30); judge Superior Court of Waterbury 1930- 45; reorganized and directed court's probation system 1935-45; assigned to hear all appeals from State Juvenile Court 1941-45; on Waterbury Charter Commission 1929-30 and Commission for Revision of State Statutes 1927-30; appointed by Governor Cross to legislative commission to study and recommend a state automobile financial responsibdity law; government appeal agent and chairman Waterbury advisory board in World War I; helped to index and bring up to date Connecticut Practice Boo\ 1934; vice-president Class of 1907 L ; a director Albertus Magnus College; on State Bar Examining Committee 1934-42; member Mattatuck Council, Boy Scouts of America, Waterbury Bar Association (president 1928-29), and New Haven County, Connecticut State, and American Bar associations; trustee Blessed Sacrament Church (Roman Catholic), Waterbury. Married June 29, 1909, in Waterbury, Gertrude, daughter of Michael and Katharine (Lawlor) Guilfoile. Adopted son. Vincent. Death due to arteriosclerotic heart disease.
