Read law in Chicago and admitted to Illinois bar 1893; engaged in managing family properties and investments in Chicago and in Europe; traveled abroad and studied international law 1897; treasurer and general manager Power & Speed Controller Company, Watertown, Mass; Captain, Quartermaster Corps, United States Army, and engineer and chief purchasing officer, gasoline and oil department; overseas April 10, 1918- January, 1919; managing director Franco-American Manufacturing Association, Pans; resided in England, France, and Italy for many years Married April 15, 1893, Helen Stokes Turner, daughter of Charles Stokes.
