Supplement 393 Attended Columbia University School of Law 1937-38 and University of Michigan Law School 1938-40. Married June 8, 1940, in New York City, Mane Bradford Fotterall Trench, daughter of William Foster Fotterall, Jr, and Mrs Stewart Power Trench No children. Lieutenant and Mrs. Barnes were divorced in 1943. Enlisted in Army of the United States January 20, 1942; attended Officer Candidate School, Miami Beach, Fla, October 30, 1942-January 20, 1943; commissioned Second Lieutenant, Army Air Forces, January 20, 1943; attended Air Intelligence School, Harrisburg, Pa, January 24- March 6, 1943; went overseas with 51st Fighter Squadron June 18, 1943; stationed in Galapagos Islands and Panama Canal Zone as intelligence officer; promoted First Lieutenant March 9, 1944. Lieutenant Barnes was instantly killed when the plane in which he was traveling on a special assignment from Panama collided with another plane. Survived by parents, a sister, Carol Louise Barnes Eddy, the wife of E. Scott Eddy, '32, and a brother, William S. Barnes, '40. His parents have dedicated a memorial to him in The National Cemetery, Arlington. Lawrence Michael Di Filippo, B.A. 1938. Born March 8, 1916, in Boston, Mass. Died May 14, 1942, in the Philippine Islands. Father, Pasquale Di Filippo, associated with C & R. Construction Company, Boston; son of Pasquale and Mane Grace (Minnina) Di Filippo of Italy. Mother, Lena (Di Maina) Di Filippo, daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Mohnario) Di Mama of New York. English High School, Boston, and Phdhps-Exeter On Class swimming and baseball teams and football and track squads Freshman year, member Saybrook College (baseball and swimming teams Junior and Senior years). Employed by I. J Fox, furriers, New York City, for a time after graduation and also engaged in writing; member St Peter's Church (Roman Catholic), Dorchester, Mass Unmarried. Enlisted in Army of the United States in September, 1940, received basic training at Fort Slocum September-November, 1940; volunteered for overseas duty; went overseas attached to 19th Air Base Squadron about December, 1940, and stationed at Nichols Field, Rizal, Philippine Islands, promoted to Corporal in August, 1941 Corporal Di Filippo died of dysentery in a Japanese prison camp Buned at Camp O'Donnell, in the Philippines. Survived by parents, a sister, Miss Grace Di Fdippo of Milton, Mass., and a brother, Joseph Di Filippo.
