I drove my wife, Harry being ill with a sore Throat. Anstis21 dined here. My dear has no need to think I shall be worse than my promise, if she survives me. We heard Capt. Richard Mumford297 is dead. If so, Ld sanctify it to his wife and Son.298 The Diary is resumed after an interval of nearly Six Tears, fuly Friday 19th 1751, a fine morning, cool and wind at west. My men stacking Hay. Joseph Jesse299 came to me on a Message from Betty Sweet, to attend her Husband's Capt. Sweet's Funeral300 tomorrow; he died ys Morning. Saturday July 20th 1751, a fine clear Morning foreboding a hot Day; wind at N: W. Tom89 has bro't Mor'824 mare for me to ride to Capt. Sweet's Funeral, and thence to Xtopher Phillips's169 in my way to Coeset chh." My men carrying Cocks of Hay. I received a Packet of Mr. Greaves's301 for to be forwarded to London, and a Present of writing Paper. Sunday July 21st 1751. I rode in the Heat from Xtopher Phillips's to Coeset, read Prayers, preached and administered ye Eucharist, returned and outrid ye Rain to Phillips's, dined thre and got Home in ye Evening. Hannibal302 went with me on ye Ranger, as I rode Mors mare. Samuel Casey Junr3°3 and George Mumford53 Peter's Bror stayed y* night at my House. [ 44 ]
