Abstract: The scene is the interior of a gothic church, with a view of part of a lateral gallery, the tower arch, and west door (on the right). The foreground and the gallery are filled with couples, in general elderly, ugly, and fashionably dressed, in conversation or bowing to each other. An unicorn on a monument holding an escutcheon is conspicuous. On the right the congregation is crowding towards the open door
