Provenance: Sold at Strawberry Hill sale, day, viii, lot 31 To William Knight, Esq. [London, 1259]. Ex dono Seymour de Ricci, August 1933. This portfolio is recorded by Horace Walpole in his Description of Strawberry Hill, 1774. as among the rare books of prints and drawings in the Library. It was broken up at some time, after 1842: a considerable number of drawings from it were sold at Sotheby's, 30 July 1919 (Col. Fellows Sale), and have since been acquired by W.S. Lewis. On many of the drawings are notes by Horace Walpole.
