Two men are seated at a table, the elder (on the left, identified as Martin Folkes) looks through his eyeglasses at a watch, a paper headed 'Votes of the Common' is on the table in front of him. On the right a younger man (identified as Addison) sits across from him, his left arm casually draped over the back of his bench; on the table in front of him is a bowl; he holds a spoon in his right hand, his hat on the seat beside him.
