Abstract: Watercolor drawing of a palette, with colored paints in a line across the top, five paint brushes emerging from the thumb hole on the right side and a garland of holly leaves and berries wraps around three sides of the palette. Intended as a vignette as indicated by the words penned in ink below "End of Vol. III".

Date from decorated title page indicating that the volumes of this copy were "... privately illustrated 1884-1890".
Mounted above drawing is a proof state of a mezzotint engraving after Reynolds entitled The age of innocence.
