Early (proof?) state with artist and printmaker names present but before title and publication line added; this state, undescribed by Smith, represents the third state according to Russell.
Date of publication based on later state with the imprint statement "Publish'd as the act directs, Jany. 1st, 1762." See: Smith, J.C. British mezzotinto portraits.
Sheet trimmed within plate mark.
Engraved after the painting kept by Horace Walpole in the Gallery at Strawberry Hill.
