Script: Italian 16th-century hand.
Layout: single column of 30 lines.
Binding: vellum, over paper boards. Spinal title: Dioscorides De plantis Graece Manuscrip.
Volume was likely produced in Venice between 1539 and 1542 or Guillaume Pellicier, bishop of Montpellier and ambassador to Venice. - Provenance
- Ownership inscription on f. 1r: Collegii Pavisiensie Societ. Jesui. (right top of page mutilated; no. 321 in that collection). Manuscript call number "222" on spine. Formerly owned by Gerard Meerman (1722-1771) and Jean Meerman (1753-1815); their collection sold by Luchtmans in 1824 (lot 221). Armorial stamp of Sir Thomas Phillipps (Ms 3084). Purchased for the Yale Medical Library in 1957 from Laurence Witten as a gift of the Jacob Ziskind Trust.
