Text directly beneath woodcut: New Year's Lottery begins 21st this month (Jan.), 2 of 20,000 guineas, and 40 other capitals. All sterling money - no stock prizes. Tickets and shares are selling by the contractor, T. Bish, 4, Cornhill, and 9, Charing-Cross.
Attribution to George Cruikshank and approximate date of publication from description of a similar handbill in the British Museum, which uses the same woodcut with slightly different text; cf. British Museum online catalogue, registration no.: 1862,1217.149.
