Hamelin jr. of Lexington, Missouri / 1849-1857</dc:title><dc:creator>Hamelin, Joseph P., Jr., 1823-</dc:creator><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:description>The journal records an 1849 trip from Missouri, beginning on the  ship Highland Mary to old Fort Kearney, overland by the Platte and Sweetwater, Fort Bridger, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, the southern trail, Virgin River, Cajon Pass, and Sacramento. Hamelin also records an 1856 trip from Leavenworth  to Fort Laramie where he became an agent for Majors, Russell Co., freighters. He made the return journey in 1857.
