The collection consists of bills, deeds, contracts, receipts, statements of account, correspondence, copies of court actions, Indian War claims, and licenses reflecting the activities of Oregon pioneers. The printed Indian War claims are: John Swindin vs. The Rogue River Tribe of Indians and The United States; Seth R. Hammer, administrator of the estate of Turner Crump, vs. The Rogue River Tribe....; John W. Redfield vs. The Rogue River Indians, The Cow Creek Indians, and the United States; Hardy C. Stanton, administrator of the estate of James and Mary Sinclair, deceased, vs. The Palouse, Walla Walla, Yakima, Cayouse, and the Umatilla Tribes of Indians and the United States
There are three letters written to John T. Apperson from two women named Gaines in Yamhill County, Oregon, two letters from Stephen Fowler Chadwick in Salem, Oregon, to William J. Friedlander, and a letter from William Winter in 1907. There are several deeds; names which appear on them include Amory Holbrook, Augustine Magloire Alexander Blanchet, Nathaniel Crosby, Jr., Daniel H. Lownsdale. Several different documents pertain to J. R. W. Selwood

- John T. Apperson was a lieutenant in the Army at Ft. Walla Walla and Ft. Dalles, Oregon in 1863-1864. Augustine Magloire Alexander Blanchet was Bishop of Nesqually, Multnomah County. Amory Holbrook was U. S. Attorney for the Oregon Territory.
