An illustration by Aubrey Beardsley of his poem, The three musicians, which appeared on pages 64-66 of the first issue (no. 1, Jan. 1896) of The Savoy, published by Leonard Smithers.
The poem recounts a walk in the woods by three musicians --a soprano, a Polish pianist, and a "slim, gracious boy" of unspecified musical talents-- but the illustration depicts only the soprano and the boy because "The Polish genius lags behind."
