A monkey wearing a cocked hat and coat stands on his shoulder and takes an apple from the basket on the head of an apple-woman. A man plays a hurdy-gurdy in the foreground on the extreme right. The spectators gaze up intensely amused: A milkman (left), his yoke on his shoulder, has put down his pail, from which a second monkey dressed as a woman is drinking.
