Title, artist, and approximate date from the 1786 exhibition catalogue of the Royal Academy.
Unsigned. Misattributed to William Hogarth in the 20th century.
In a period carved and gilded swept frame.
Design was engraved (in reverse, with minor changes) by Edward Williams, with the resulting print published in 1788 by John Raphael Smith. See British Museum online catalogue, registration no.: 1868,0822.7119. - Provenance
