The journal continues to chronicle the trip by sea voyage to San Francisco with stops in Acapulco. The account ends with a description of San Francisco, its people, and Simmons's trip inland as far as the Sacramento Valley.</dc:description><dc:description>John C. Simmons, a Methodist minister, and his brother (also a minister) were appointed by the Georgia Conference to churches in Marysville and Grass Valley, California. They sailed from New Orleans to San Francisco by way of Panama in 1851. </dc:description></oai_dc:dc>
