Part I (parchment): Carta ejecutoria, or letter of nobility, granted to Don Alfonso Rodriguez (Tinagero Rodriguez de la Escalera) by the authority of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel of Castile. Issued in Salamanca, 1487. Seal missing. Part II (paper): Numerous documents (all dated 1686) concerning a law suit involving Don Diego Tinagero Rodriguez de la Escalera of Seville, a descendent of Alfonso Rodriguez
- Description:
- In Spanish., Script: Part I (ff. 3-13): Round gothic script by a single scribe. Part II (ff. 19-74): Written in various cursive hands., Folios 1v and 2r have crudely illuminated full-page miniatures, 17th century. Folio 1v: members of the Rodriguez family offering prayers to the Madonna and Child. Folio 2r: arms of the Tinagero Rodriguez de la Escalera family. Crude decorative border on f. 3v and REY (in gold, outlined in black) may be later additions., Many of the documents included appear to have once been folded. Some loss of text due to trimming., and Binding: Eighteenth century (?). Thin wooden boards covered with dark brown leather, flesh side out. Vermilion and green ribbon fastenings.

- In Latin., Script: original text and additions copied in extremely large Southern (Spanish) Gothica Textualis Formata (Textus Praescissus), with music notation in nota quadrata., Richly decorated with red rubrics and painted initials., and Binding: s. XVI: undecorated brown leather over heavy wooden boards, sewn on four double cords. On both covers four large engraved brass corner pieces and more centrally five smaller engraved brass bosses. The leather damaged and several metal pieces lost. On the front cover upside down large number "26" in white paint. On the rear cover four engraved brass catches for clasps (one both at the top and at the bottom edge, and two at the outer edge), and eight nails towards the top probably for fixing a fenestra with title label (now lost). Leather tabs partly with Spanish inscriptions pasted on the outer edges of the leaves.

- In Latin., Script: the original text is probably copied by a single hand (A) writing a small Gothica Textualis/Semitextualis Libraria. The additional texts are copied in 16th century hands: artt. 1 and 6 in Gothica Hybrida Libraria by hand B, who wrote also the majority of the marginal notes and additions; art. 7 by hand C, who used a bold Humanistica Cursiva., The manuscript contains: 1) Benedictus XII Papa (1334-1342), Constitutio pro reformatione Ordinis Cisterciensis (1335), c. 1, first part. 2) Benedictus XII papa, Constitutio pro reformatione Ordinis Cisterciensis (1335), cc. 1 (second part) - 42. 3) Statutes of the General Chapter of Cîteaux of 1335. 4) Benedictus XII Papa, Bulla "Regularem vitam professis", 4 July 1335. 5) Benedictus XII Papa, Bulla "Pastor bonus diligens", 17 June 1335. 6) Statute of the General Chapter of 1422, c. 24. 7) Part of the statute of the General Chapter of 1422, c. 23. 8) Carta caritatis, a later version of the original constitution of the Cistercian Order. 9) Statutes of the General Chapter of 1317, incomplete at the end: cc. 1-13., The additional texts are not decorated. The original parts have red headings, red paragraph marks, and red 2- or 3-line plain initials. Art. 2 opens f. 2r with a 7-line littera duplex with extensive penwork and extension in the inner margin in red and blue; art. 8 opens f. 42v with a 3-line flourished initial (Prologue) and a 4-line littera duplex with penwork, as in art. 2 (text). All initials are half inset and have guide letters in the margin., and Binding: blind-tooled white parchment over wooden boards, decorated with fillets in a frame and lozenges pattern. Spine with two raised bands.

- In Spanish., Script: Written by one hand in bold Southern Gothica Textualis Formata with Spanish features; the addition on f. 17rb-va is by another hand in the same script., In art. 2 red paragraph marks. In art. 3 fine 2-line flourished initials with marginal extensions, alternately in red with blue penwork and blue with red penwork. Large littera duplex of the same type and in the same colours on f. 6r. Art. 4 is not decorated. On f. 1v, full-page miniature depicting the King of Castile and four noble members of the Confraternity in adoration of the Resurrection. On f. 2r, full-page miniature showing the Archbishop of Toledo and five clerics in adoration of the Virgin, who hands the chasuble to St. Ildefons Archbishop of Toledo. Both miniatures are set in a courtyard and are framed at the outer and lower side with a border of large acanths in gold and colours. The slight smudge in the middle of the paintings is probably caused by the noble and clerical members swearing an oath of fidelity to the Confraternity and touching the appropriate page., and Binding: ca. 1600. Blind-tooled light brown leather over pasteboard made from waste paper. The covers are decorated with fillets making a double lozenge in a rectangular frame, decorated with impressions of a star-shaped tool. Traces of two leather ties.

- In Latin., Script: written in a formal gothic script (littera textualis formata) without feet on the minims., and Decoration: one 9-line initial "P" on fol. 1r in varying shades of blue with foliate decoration on white filigree; in the loop of the letter a peacock in blue and grey with green and gold feathers stands underneath a red rose; the text on the recto is bordered on all four sides and in the center margin with a gold band filled with blue diamons alternating with circles filled with flowers; musical notation is in black on 4-line staves in red; punctuated with the punctus; hyphenation is in the same ink as the text.

- In Spanish (Valencian dialect)., Watermarks: similar to Piccard Turm 132-47 and Briquet Tete humaine 15670., Script: Written by a single person in Spanish fere-humanistic script., In addition to the illustrations mentioned, there is on f. 40r a drawing of a knight in armor on horseback, in red, blue, green. He holds a shield with the arms of Alfonso V, King of Aragon (d. 1458): per pale argent, a lion rampant gules; bendy of 4, argent and gules., 2-line red initials with penwork in black at beginning of each text section. Headings, paragraph marks, and strokes on initials, in red. Remains of directions to rubricator along lower edge., and Binding: Fifteenth century. Original sewing on three slit-strap, tawed supports laced to the inside of beech boards and pegged. Plain wound endbands with a secondary, multi-colored sewing on tawed cores. The spine is square and lined with vellum between supports, the sewing supports slightly defined. Covered in brown goatskin, blind-tooled with concentric frames, the spine diced. Two fastenings, the catches on the lower board decorated with floral designs, the clasps wanting. Repaired.

- In Spanish., Watermarks: similar to Briquet Main 11154., Script: Written by a single scribe in a neat humanistic bookhand, with a somewhat smaller script for the surrounding commentary., Two initials (both f. 1r), the first, 5-line, for the rubric, purple with red penwork; immediately below, the second, for the text, 9-line, the upper portion red, filled with purple penwork, the lower portion purple, filled with red; attached to a thick bar border (side and lower margins) of red and purple vine scrolls in pen, with touches of light brown. One 7-line initial (f. 88r) red, with purple penwork, with exuberant loops and flourishes extending into top and side margins. Depictions of various implements, in black, within text (ff. 37v, 72v, 114r, 115r, 125r, 127r, and 137r). 3-line initials, paragraph marks, and headings in red throughout (except f. 1r, on which, in keeping with the initials, some of the paragraph marks are purple)., and Binding: 17th-18th centuries. Limp vellum case; title, now illegible, on spine. Front and back pastedown and back flyleaf contain extensive Latin legal references (17th century).

- Description:
- In Latin., Script: probably copied by a single hand writing Gothica Cursiva Libraria/Currens with Spanish features. Paragraph marks and headings in pale red ink. Red initials with reserved interior shapes, of various heights., Copy of the charter of Lothaire, King of the Franks (954-986), for the abbey of Sant Cugat, dated Compiègne, 986 January-February. The copy was made by Bernard of Caderita, notary at Barcelona, 1044 January 17. The manuscript contains confirmations of this charter by James I, King of Aragon (1213-1276), dated 1233 January 23, and Pedro IV, King of Aragon (1336-1387), dated 1338 April 20. The manuscript also contains documents about a lawsuit before the court of the bishop of Barcelona between the monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallés and the town of Sant Cugat at the occasion of a fight between two inhabitants of the town and the wounds they received, 1273-1380. The Latin language of these documents is very ungrammatical., and Binding: no covers.
