A second note below, in the same hand but likely written at a different time, asserts that this is the "finest impression of the 1st state known, specially selected by Horace Walpole, for whom the original picture was painted, & inserted by him in his own enlarged & illustrated catalogue of the pictures at Strawberry Hill".

Abstract:: Two ladies driving in a gig, advancing diagonally towards the spectator from left to right, on the road from Hyde Park Corner to Knightsbridge. The gig, which has a crest on its panel, is drawn by a pair of ponies with long tails and manes. The lady driving is standing up, she wears the fashionable driving dress of the period, coat and waistcoat of masculine cut, full skirt without a hoop, large feathered hat; a bunch of seals hangs from her waistcoat. Her companion (right) sits demurely with folded arms; her dress is more feminine. The background shows the front of St. George's Hospital (left).
Description:: Title from item., Sheet trimmed to plate mark., and Mezzotint version of no. 5939 in the Catalogue of prints and drawings in the British Museum. Division I, political and personal satires, v. 5, without the large board inscribed 'Saint Georges Hospital for Sick' or the inscription on the pedestal 'Tattersal'.

Abstract:: "A lady, seated on a settee smiling, her right hand rests on the arm of the settee, in her left is a black mask. On the cushion of the settee is a card "Admit Mrs M------to the Mask'd Ball". She is attractively dressed in the fashion of the period, with a muslin apron.
