Sir Matthew Wood, naked except for the skin of the Nemean Lion, wields a club at the Hydra, which has four heads, saying "Down, down to Hell! / and say I sent thee thither". The nearest head (probably King George IV) says, "Thou shalt not / commit Adultery." The second (probably Bartolomeo Bergami) says, "Non mi ricordo!" The third head, wearing a judge's wig and collar, has no speech bubble, but printed beside beside its profile is "Bill of Pains &c." The fourth head is unidentified, and silent, as is a shadowy fifth at the bottom right. Another unidentified head rests at the center bottom of the image; Wood is either standing on or just behind it.

"George IV, dressed as a Turk, marches arrogantly past a row of ladies of his harem, holding a large goblet whose contents are spilling. He wears a jewelled turban with the high peak of a fool's cap, terminating in a bell. The end of his long furred robe is held by a thin man (left) wearing a turban decorated with antlers to indicate Lord Conyngham; the latter's arms and legs are bare, and he shambles along, carrying a decanter. The King says: "Variety is charming. Constancy is not for me, so Ladies pray take warning." "Seven Aldermen, with ass's ears, sit in conference (a meeting of the Court of Aldermen) in Guildhall wearing their furred gowns. The table is covered with a cloth on which are the City Arms and motto, 'Domine Direge [sic] Nos', but a turtle replaces the griffin as the sinister supporter. The arcaded wall, showing the lower part of the windows (with the City Arms), forms a background. The table is flanked by the statues of the giants, 'Gog' (left) and 'Magog' (right), on pedestals. The former, holding a staff with a spiked ball dangling from it, asks: "I say Brother what do you think of our City Asses." Magog, holding pike and shield: "Why I think Brother Gog they are a set of D--n'd Stupid Blockheads." Five Aldermen are on the farther side of the table. The other two sit facing each other at the opposite ends. In the centre sits Bridges; he says: "As late Mare I should be a Great Ass if I did not differ from those Radical Individuals who trust in their own confidence-- I say the Q--n must not go to St Pauls." On his right is Curtis, the largest and most prominent, who says with raised forefinger: "We shall have a speedy Revolution and soon [see British Museum Satires No. 11306], if she is allowed to come into the City-- I protest on my part against prayers of any description." The man at the head of the table says: "No Prayers by St Paul I say for one." The Alderman next him asks: "Where is our friend At--ns, he knows all about burning the Thames" [see British Museum Satires No. 13272]. The others (left to right) says: [1] "Let me see--Keep her out by all means." He stares through an eye-glass, shutting one eye. [2] "Oh dear we shall all be ruined if she comes." [3] "If the Q--n is prayed for we are all dished by Goles--I'll have the Caracatures taken out of the Windows." In the upper margin: 'List of the Wise Men--G. Br--s, Billy Blubber [Curtis], C. Fl--r. "A stuffed figure of George IV, heavy, inert, and puppet-like, wearing royal robes and with massive antlers on his forehead, is supported by his three chief Ministers. Under his legs are two prostrate men; his left foot is planted on the face of one who wears the remains of a tattered shoe. Sidmouth takes his right leg and holds it out towards the Queen, who escapes to the left. She is protected by John Bull, a stout countryman, who smashes the King's extended leg with a cudgel of 'oak', breaking off the foot. John, with clenched fist, says: "Dom thee, what Kick a defenceless Woman 'the Cowardly Rascal!" Castlereagh and Liverpool (right) support the King's shoulders. Behind (right) is a copy of British Museum Satires No. 13765: the King sleeps in a cradle (as in British Museum Satire No. 13764, &c.) rocked by Lady Conyngham, who sings: "hush my babe lie still & slumber 'tis Eliza guards thy Bed." The cradle is decorated with a pagoda, the Royal Arms, and a nude obese squatting Chinese, symbolizing the King. The Queen, looking behind her vengefully, escapes towards a Chinese doorway. One stoops, puffing into a lady's face which is thus completely hidden; she staggers back; on an ascending cloud are the words Fond of Steaming Ladies? do you Smoke it, Eh! A second man stands over him, also smoking hard. On the left a dandy's moustache is blazing, he staggers back, his hat falling, his cheroot on the ground, and shouts Fire Fire Oh Dear my best Mustacios will be quite Destroyed. "A design in two compartments. [1] 'Billy, in the Devil's claws'. Fox as the Devil (left) grasps the thin and terrified Pitt round the waist, pointing with his left arm to a serried rank of French soldiers, landed from the boats of French men-of-war and marching up the steep coast. He is a grotesque hairy creature, short and heavy, with webbed wings attached to his ragged coat, a barbed tail and talons, and wearing a bonnet-rouge.
