Description:: In Italian., Script: copied by a single hand writing Humanistica Cursiva Libraria; thought to be autograph. Headings on ff. 1v and 3r in Capitalis., Giovan Francesco Suardi (d. after 1540), Amor fugitivus. Poem in Italian in three cantos dedicated to Isabella d'Este (1474-1539), Marchioness of Mantua, and intended to be performed at her court. In the first canto the poet sings of his love, in the second he encounters Venus in search of Cupido who ran away, in the third he sadly returns home. There are a few corrections on erasure. This is the dedication copy and the only manuscript containing this text., and Binding: original binding: brown leather over cardboard; both covers blind-tooled with a double frame inscribed with a lozenge containing the monogram “YHS”. The spine is gold-tooled.

Description:: In Italian., Watermarks: anchor and star similar to Briquet Ancre 478, Bergamo 1502., Script: Written in italic script by a single scribe who left blank spaces for illuminated initials., Outer and lower margins of almost every page filled with architectural or mechanical sketches drawn either directly on the leaves (ff. 1r-5v) or on small strips of paper pasted onto the margins of the leaves (ff. 6r-57v), in brown ink, sometimes with green or pink washes. The drawings illustrate every section of the text; many have explanatory inscriptions., and Binding: Eighteenth century. Red edges. Mottled, brown calf, streaked on the turn-ins. Blind-tooled, with a gold-tooled spine.

A1r (art. 1) is in calligraphic Humanistica Cursiva Formata. A few titles in Capitalis., The decorative frames on ff. A1r and B1r are traced in brown ink. The upper half of the former contains a baroque cartouche in brown and red, containing a monogram apparently consisting of the letters A, K and M. Art. 2 opens with a flourished initial, art. 7 with a calligraphic initial, both in red., and No binding.

Description:: In Latin and Italian., Watermark: cardinal's hat, var. Briquet 3409 ... (1519-1527?)., Script: Copied by one hand in Gothica Hybrida Formata verging to the Semitextualis, with a "typographic" outlook (but totally different from the printing type used in the presumed exemplar)., Paragraph marks, flourished initials (5 ll. f. 1r, 3 ll. f. 5r) and Columbus coat of arms all in the same brown ink as the text. The arms closely resemble those found in the Genoa codex of his Book of Privileges., and Binding: Unbound. Placed in a boardpaper portfolio and leather-backed boardpaper slip-case.
