His arms are folded, his head sunk on his breast; from his pocket hang a noose of rope and a paper: 'Paines & Penelties' [sic]. "Ministers, much burlesqued, registering terror or anxiety, are grouped on either side of a large bottle of 'Evidence against the Queen' from which rise clouds of smoke, inscribed 'Lies' (four times) and 'Non mi Ricordo' [five times]. On the left sits Liverpool, saying: "We shall be all sent to the Devil." Next him Eldon scowls: "D--n that Non mi Ricordo." "Pushed by Knighton and pulled by Lady Conyngham, George IV, more corpulent than in other prints, walks in an ornate circular stand or support on castors (as used for toddling children, cf. British Museum satires no. 7497) towards Virginia Water (right), his fishing-rod against his shoulder. He wears a hat with a wide curving brim inscribed á la Townsend [cf. British Museum satires no. 10293], double-breasted tail-coat, breeches, and pumps; his right arm rests on the ring of the stand, in his hand is a small book: Old Izack [Walton]. From the stand dangles an ornate reticule: Fish Bag; the base is decorated with two fat squatting mandarins. Lady Conyngham looks over her right shoulder at the King, puffing from her effort, but singing Rule Britannia; the crossbar at which she tugs is a sceptre. She wears an enormous ribbon-trimmed bonnet and décolletée dress; the hook from the King's line has caught in her dress which strains across her vast posterior as she leans forward. Knighton wears a court-suit with bag-wig and sword. He pushes with both hands with great concentration, singing, Send him Victorious. In his coat-pocket are a clyster-pipe and a paper: Petition of the Unborn Babes. A signpost terminating in a realistic hand points To Virginia Water. "Joanna Southcott, a stout termagant, stands in back view directed slightly to the right, gathering up her petticoats to display her person to three doctors who gaze closely at her. She is grossly caricatured, with no resemblance to her portraits. She says, her head turned in profile to the right, and looking up with a triumphant smile: "Seeing is believing are you Now satisfied theres no [sic] Behold the Naked Truth most Learned Doctors." The doctors, who are crouching for closer inspection, say respectively: "It has a confounded strange appeara[nce]"; "I have my doubts"; "I cant help suspecting". Across her posteriors, defined by the pulling up of her petticoats, is engraved: 'Aged 64 Bladders of Blasphemy and Corruption Sealed up and Ready to Burst'. On the left is a large cradle of straw in which is seated a grotesque parson with horns projecting from his forehead; he holds a spoon and a bowl inscribed 'Caudle'; beside him is a paper: 'Cradle Hymns'. He leers cunningly. The cradle is inscribed 'Parson Towser' and 'Cradle for Joanna's Boar Pig'. A bird-like demon, grinning grotesquely, crouches on the head of the cradle. Against it lies a sack inscribed 'Donations Child Bed Linen for young Beelzebub'. Beside this lie a large coral and bells, pap-spoon, syringes, a little saucepan, &c. (presents from the faithful). Beside Johanna (right) is a chest (as in British Museum Satires No. 12334) inscribed 'Joanna Southcot's Prophecys' and 'Seals for Sale'. Other things beside it are a syringe inscribed 'infusion of Devils Dose', a paper inscribed 'Game of Humbug', a bowl of 'Cock Broth for Tom Tozer', and a decanter of 'Strong Water'. "George IV, dressed as Henry VIII and with cavalry boots decorated with rosettes, sits on the throne (right), shrinking angrily from oxen wearing civic gowns who bow, presenting petitions. All the horns of the oxen are tipped with tiny caps resembling caps of Liberty; a slightly larger pair protects the prongs of a fork held up on the extreme left above the massed heads of the beasts. On this a placard is speared: 'Petitions from every Part of the World--(Hole's and Corner's excepted) to Dismiss the Ministers-- signed by upwards of 999,999--Millions of the Brute Creation.' The petitions of the four beasts in the front row are headed: 'Petition of Lord Mayor & Citizens of London to Dismiss Ministers'; 'Petitions from every part of England & Wales to Dismiss Ministers &c &c &c'; '. . . ions from every Part of Scotland to Dismiss Ministers &c &c &c'; 'Petitions from every part of Ireland . . . [ut supra]'. Hooves rise from cattle behind holding more petitions: 'from Europe'; 'From Asia'; 'from Africa'; 'from America'; 'from every Honest Man'. The canopied throne is raised on a dais of three steps, the footstool is a cushion supported on a (carved) elephant; but the King's feet are drawn back. His right hand is on his hip; he holds an oddly shaped sceptre in the left hand. The back of the throne is framed by carved mannikins with shackled hands and feet; a large crown rests on the heads of the two uppermost. The back of the canopy has a pattern of writhing serpents. Ministers, much caricatured, stand on the right and left of the dais. In the foreground (right) and on the King's left, Wellington, with the apron and steel of a butcher (as in British Museum Satires No. 13288), with gauntlet gloves and with a star on his tunic, holds a blood-stained battle-axe. Sidmouth, as Court-fool, sits in profile to the left on an apothecary's mortar, wearing a double-peaked fool's cap and a star, and holding a bladder which is his clyster-pipe. Behind is Eldon, scowling savagely and holding the mace and the Purse of the Great Seal. A bishop holding a crosier stands on either side of the throne, behind the Ministers. A staff supports an emblematical cask which a naked Bacchus bestrides. On the King's right is Liverpool, holding a tall staff to which a green bag is tied (see British Museum Satires No. 13735). Next him is Castlereagh, blandly sinister, holding a scourge, and with a bunch of keys hanging from his belt; he stares at the petitioners. A tiny Vansittart is beside him, in his Chancellor of the Exchequer's gown, with an 'X' on his breast above a chequered pattern, hung diamond-wise. Immensely fat and absurd beefeaters stand along the back of the room under quasi-Gothic windows of stained glass. All hold tridents and turn their eyes towards the petitioners, grinning grotesquely. Each window is centred by an escutcheon on which a decanter is the chief object. The upper part of each is filled by a design of three large peacock's feathers (see British Museum Satires No. 13299). King George IV and entourage laden with provisions, about to embark from Brighton in the Royal Yacht; representing the extravagant monarch's distressed retreat from England at the time of the Queen's trial and "George IV leads a procession to the waterside to embark in the royal yacht, preceded by the Attorney-General with a 'Green Bag' [see No. 13735] under each arm, and a bottle of 'Milan Brandy' [see British Museum Satires No. 13755, &c.] in each hand. The latter, much caricatured and with a malevolent countenance, says: "The Tide is against His Ma--je--ty but should He be able to clear Cuckolds Point [cf. British Museum Satires No. 13769] no doubt he will easily weather Cape Horn." The King, wearing sailor's trousers, rollicks along between Lady Hertford and Lady Conyngham (see British Museum Satires No. 13847), arm-in-arm with both and looking towards the latter. He holds in one hand a purse inscribed '2/6', in the other a bottle: 'Decoction of Bergamy', and wears a long watch-ribbon inscribed 'Non mi ricordo' [see British Museum Satires No. 13827]. Both ladies carry reticules inscribed '2/6' [half a crown, cf. British Museum Satires No. 13826]. Lady Hertford: "I hope your Ma--je--ty will not forget your promise (when in Hertford) to take a peep in Y--amouth [sic] Roads--as the Sea breezes might be beneficial." Lady Conyngham: "Don't doubt us your Ma--je--ty we shall never be wanting to lend a Hand to raise the Royal G . . . e." Behind walk Sidmouth and Castlereagh, the latter wearing a triangular hat, holding a scourge and fetters and with a package inscribed 'Irish Wiskey Triangular Proceedings' [see British Museum Satires No. 14135] under his arm. Sidmouth carries a 'Royal Medecine Chest' under his arm, with a clyster-pipe (cf. British Museum Satires No. 9849) inscribed 'Portable Soup'; on his head is a commode-pan inscribed 'Stink Pot for the Radicals'. He says: "Take care of the Green Bags, Stow 'em safe-- for should the Sea Water touch them they'll rot sooner than is expected--and his Ma--je--ty would run the chance of loosing half a Crown" [see British Museum Satires No. 13826]. They are followed by Liverpool and Canning, both wearing, like the King, top-hats ornamented with crowns, to show they are the King's servants. Liverpool has a pen behind his ear and carries two bags, one inscribed 'Pursers Profits', the other 'Nip Cheese 75 Per Cent'. He says "one and one makes two. Canning carries a weathercock (cf. British Museum Satires No. 13737) and says: "A fine Breeze and we shall soon be out of the scent of Cotton Yard [see British Museum Satires No. 13824] theres a kind of Vapour gathering in that Quarter that's likely to be very offensive, unless the rubbish is shortly removed!!" In the foreground on the extreme left walks Sir William Curtis, in the sailor's dress of the Walcheren Expedition, see British Museum Satires No. 11353, &c. He has a vast paunch inscribed 'The Orphans Fund' [see British Museum Satires No. 13706] and 'Blubber', and carries a large turtle, a knife, and a long spoon. "Heading to a lithographed broadside. The interior of a boarded sty in which a great boar, with the head of George IV, lies upon straw, boar and straw being spotted with black. Castlereagh empties a bucket of brandy into an overflowing trough, while Sidmouth leans over the half-door to squirt the animal with his clyster-pipe (cf. British Museum Satires No. 9849). The former says: "Friend Sid-- the Augean Stables were nothing to clense, compar'd to this Stye!!!" Sidmouth: "Aye, my worthy Fellow Servant, you will find the Stye, your Masterpiece! and with all my care, I can't make this Beast appear decent, he is so cover'd with filth!!"
