Abstract:
"A quack doctor (right) stands outside his house surrounded by a pyramid of bottles inscribed 'Velnos Syrup', one of which he holds up, demonstrating its virtues with a complacent smile to a band of rival practitioners (left) who are furiously threatening his barricade. Behind his head is inscribed : 'List of Cures \ In 1788,5,000 \ In 1789, 10,000'. The house is at the corner of 'Frith Street'; it has a porch inscribed in large letters 'Mr Swainson N. 21'. A surgeon threatens Swainson with a knife, raising also a leg to kick. A second surgeon kneels on one knee, also holding a knife and glaring ferociously; beside him is a basket of surgeon's instruments. Behind him is a man who directs an enormous syringe at the self-satisfied Swainson. An old man wearing spectacles holds up a 'Pill Box'. These assailants are dominated by a very stout man in the rear who holds up a pestle in one hand, in the other a mortar inscribed 'Mercury the only Specific'. Abstract:
"A fashionable dentist is extracting the teeth of the poor in order to insert 'live teeth' immediately into the jaws of his patients. In the centre a young chimney-sweep sits in an arm-chair, over the back of which the dentist leans, holding the boy's head, and inserting an instrument into his mouth. Next (left) a lady sits in a similar chair watching the sweep with a pained and angry expression; she holds a smelling-bottle to her nose; she has just endured an extraction and is about to receive a transplantation. On the right a good-looking young lady leans back, her fists clenched in pain, while a spectacled dentist peers closely into her face, placing his instrument in her mouth. Behind her a lean, ugly, and elderly man wearing regimentals stands in profile to the right, holding a mirror in which he inspects his mouth with a dissatisfied expression. On the left a ragged boy and girl are leaving the room, both crying with pain: the girl inspects the coin in her hand. On the door is a placard: 'Most Money Given for live Teeth'. A placard on the wall is headed by a coronet and two ducks, indicating quackery: 'Baron Ron------Dentist to her High Mightiness the Empress of Russia'. Cf. "Graham, the well-known quack, stands above and behind a crowd of listeners, all men, some in profile, some in back view, some full-face, the heads and shoulders only being visible, except in the foreground where there is a row of half length figures seated apparently on a bench. The expressions of the audience vary, some look up at the lecturer, others turn their backs, many are grinning. Graham holds a rolled document in one hand as in British Museum Satires No. 6324, &c. Abstract:
With the Tower of London visible in the background, a quack doctor on a platform holds up a bottle of medicine before a small crowd of city folk, as his assistant passes out handbills. Among the crowd is a carter with his whip, a chimney sweep's boy, and an obese woman. On the platform behind the doctor are several invalids, including a man with a crutch. A sign attached to the platform reads "Doctor Van Cheatall."

A greedy medical practitioner demanding a leg of bacon for payment from a poor family and "The interior of a room showing no trace of actual poverty. The invalid, a man, fully dressed but wearing a nightcap, sits in an upholstered arm-chair by the fire. A little girl stands at his knee; at his side on a tray or table are two bowls and a medicine bottle labelled 'as before'. The physician, a well-dressed man wearing a bag-wig, is about to leave the room (right); he puts coins into the hand of a young woman holding an infant. The room is papered, a half-tester bed with curtains stands against the wall. "The interior of a poverty-stricken room. An old man (left) seated in a chair is rubbing one foot which rests on a low stool with the contents of a bottle held in his right hand. He wears a night-cap, his hat and wig hang on the back of his chair. A witch-like woman, wearing large spectacles, is seated by the fire, she holds on her lap the bare leg of a young man, and is about to apply to it the contents of a pot which she is stirring on the fire. He is yelling with pain. On the wall is a placard, "Dr Steers Opodeldoc for Chilblains." Poverty is indicated by the untidy bed, a broken casement window, and the character of the chimney-piece, on which is a lighted candle, a tea-pot, and a broken cup. Title derived from caption below image., Place of publication derived from publisher's street address., Complete caption: The quintessence of quackism, founded principals truly chimerical aetherial magnetical, electrical, & immaterial, & the four quarters of the globe ransak'd to make it ingeniously rediculous. Dedicated to the emperor of quacks, by myself., Description from British Museum: Beneath the design is engraved a musical score with the words of a song. A burlesque representation of the quack doctor James Graham (1745-94), who opened his 'Temple of Health' in the Adelphi in the autumn of 1779. Graham stands full-face; he holds in his mouth the end of the tail of a monkey which sits on his head. The monkey holds out a duck by one leg, which is saying "Quack Quack". Graham holds out in his right hand a circular box inscribed "Æthereal Pills". A medallion hangs round his neck, on which is a woman's head, inscribed "Female Historian". She is Mrs. Catherine Macaulay (see index) whom he treated at Bath, so gaining his first start. He stands between two gigantic men wearing large laced hats and long coats; one, "Gog" (left), in back view, the other, "Magog" (right), stands full-face holding a paper inscribed "Sketch of the Plan of the Temple of Health". These represent the gigantic footmen or porters who were among the attractions of the 'Temple' and who distributed bills advertising the establishment, see BMSat 6346 and Angelo, 'Reminiscences', 1904, i. 97. Between them, and above Graham's head, the words "Hail Wonderous Combination!" are etched. By the left margin of the print, two men are gazing at the spectacle, one clasps his hands in admiration or supplication. Abstract:
Two quack doctors (left) are having a heated altercation in a street or square outside their respective houses. From the corner of a house on the left hangs a sign, "Dr Walker's veritable antiscorbutic Pills. Beware of Impostors". From the house on the right. a sign projects, "True antiscorbutic Pills". The doctors wear large wigs and swords, and carry three-cornered hats. One (left) holds in his hand a medicine-bottle; behind them are two dogs fighting. Their wives (right) are fighting violently; one (left) has seized the other by the hair and is kicking her. Behind them (right) two cats with arched backs are spitting at each other. In the upper part of the print (center) is a shield with two ducks, and beneath is the motto: "Quack Quack Quack".

In the upper part of the print (center) is a shield with two ducks, and beneath is the motto: "Quack Quack Quack".
