Abstract:
"A frigate with a life-like bust of Queen Caroline as figurehead runs down a similar vessel with a huge and grotesque head of George IV. The latter heels over and is about to be swamped; the King's head looks up in terror at the complacent features of his wife bearing down upon it. The head is further threatened by the jaws, bristling with teeth, of two whales in the foreground. On the level deck of the 'Queen Caroline' stand Brougham, holding a broom, and Denman, both in wig and gown and holding a document inscribed 'Defence'. Behind them is (?) Lushington (not characterized); more prominent is Wood, in a court-suit, holding a pole supporting a block of wood inscribed 'A Chump' [cf. British Museum Satires No. 13899]. The other two are Burdett, holding out a paper inscribed 'Westminster', and his fellow member Hobhouse. The crew of the 'Royal George' are either in the water or falling from the mast-head among spars and ribbons of sails. Castlereagh and Wellington are in the sea; one says: "My fall has been Triangular" [cf. British Museum Satires No. 14135], the other: "Oh! this is worse then the Grape Shot at Waterloo." On top of them falls Sidmouth with his clyster-pipe; he vomits, &c., saying: "this will a cooling Draughts [sic] and purge our foul stomachs." Two green bags (see British Museum Satires No. 13735), inscribed 'Bag', fall into the water; just above them is Eldon, dropping the mace and the Purse of the Great Seal; he exclaims: "O my Wool sack." Liverpool falls head first, dropping a large purse and coins; he says: "This Pool goes against my Liver." By his toe is a paper: 'Tresury'. Sir John Leach, with a paper inscribed 'Milan' [see British Museum Satires No. 13755, &c.], also falls. Nearest the masthead is the Archbishop of Canterbury. Beside him, sirloin, bottle, plates, knife, &c., are falling. On a smaller scale is Majocchi, dandified, and exclaiming "Non mi recordo" [see British Museum Satires No. 13827]."--British Museum online catalogue

Abstract:
"The Regent, in tight and dandified admiral's full-dress uniform, wearing a cocked hat, is carried by two bathing women (cf. British Museum Satires no. 8432) from a bathing-machine (right) to the barge 'Royal George', for transit to the royal yacht. Just behind is the machine, inscribed 'The Best Machines in Brighton'; from it two naked girls look towards the departing prince. A sailor standing in the barge, which flies the Royal Standard, seizes the Regent's ankles; one foot is gouty and swollen; he says to the man standing behind him (left): "My eyes jack this here craft will never carry him--we should bring the sheers and reeve a tackle for him in the long boat--!!" A naval officer stands beside the sailor, and shouts an order to the man behind: "shove the Barge further a stern & be d--d to you--what you about a head there." The Regent has an arm round the neck of each woman and grasps the plump breast of the nearer one who is comely. He says: "Do my dear Girls put me on board safe, I shall Tell Paget to give you some Grog--I have been almost suffocated in that infernal Bathing Machine--mind my foot." One bathing-woman says: "Faith he's no joke Judy the devil a heavier Burthen in all the country"; her comelier companion answers: "By my own soul I'd rather carry such a nice neat beautiful young Gentleman, than the best basket of mackerel that ever was at Billingsgate." The sailor on the left uses a pole to manipulate the barge, the bow of which is cut off by the left margin. He wears a tight blue jacket to the (pinched) waist, with red collar and cuffs, white trousers, and top-hat with a badge: 'Royal George'. With a grimace he says: "D--n these soldiers jackets I can't move in em--I suppose we shall all be lobsters by & bye!!" Behind (right) are the chalk cliffs of Brighton, with tiny figures waving their hats; one woman is seated on a donkey holding up a parasol."--British Museum online catalogue

"Fox, in a diver's dress which leaves his face and hands bare, stands on the bed of the ocean, speaking, through a tube inscribed 'Haul up', to his assistants in a boat; these haul on a pulley attached to the mast of the boat, but cut off by the upper margin. Fox has fastened the rope to a chest inscribed '10 Per Cent'; this, with an anchor inscribed 'Pig Iron' and three barrels, one inscribed 'Beer Tax', lies on the ocean bed. He turns his back on the dead body of John Bull, lying on his back, beside the wrecked hull of the 'Constitution Cutter - John Bull commander (whose cargo he is seizing); only the top of the mast projects above the surface of the 'Ocean of Taxation'; on this a carrion bird perches, another flies towards it. The boat from which Fox has descended is 'The Experiment'; in it are salvaged money-bags inscribed '10 Pr Cent'; its crew are (l. to r.), Windham (?), Sheridan, Erskine, and Petty."--British Museum online catalogue
