On a table is an inkstand and quill, a wine bottle, glass and candle with a book entitled "Tythe laws fully consider'd". At cat pulls from the table a paper labelled "Bans of marriage", while on the floor near a small dog a large book lies open to "Poem on good living". The clergyman's portrait and that of a woman hang on the wall behind him beside a map entitled "A Plan of the doctor's parish."

A tall, thin gentleman in a military uniform walks accross a mountainous landscape carrying on his back an obese parson with a "Tithes" basket full of chickens and a sucking-pig under his left arm and a scourge with three lashes in his right hand. Behind them and in front of his sheaved harvest stands a farmer dressed in a smock, with a branch in his right hand and his hat in the left. He says, "We Farmers have our Bodys Eat up, for the good of our Souls."

A pretty young girl with long hair under a huge mob cap sits on the knees of a fat clergyman who in turn sits astride a cart made from a cask of ale marked 'October'. One of the wheels of this cart is labelled "Cheshire"; the cart is being pulled by a sow whose three babies are suckling her. The clergyman is kissing the girl and holding a glass in his right hand. A devil stands on the back of the cask looking over the clergyman's head and the tip of his tail is in the glass. A signpost to the right reads "To the Bottom". A boar follows the cart at a distance.
