In Latin., Script: Folios 1r-7r written in late caroline minuscule (portions of text retraced); the underscript of the palimpsest on ff. 7v-8v was also written in caroline minuscule. Folios 7v-72v written in inelegant Beneventan script., Plain red initials, f. 1r-v; modest black initials filled with red, ff. 24v, 48r, 68v, 71v. Majuscules touched with red throughout., Upper edge of book block damaged, with some loss of text., and Binding: 18th-19th centuries, Italy. Rigid vellum case with traces of title (upside down) on spine. Edges daubed red and green.

In Latin., Script: Each part written by a different scribe, all in early gothic bookhand., Part I: Initials, 12- to 2-line, red, green, blue, with exuberant designs in contrasting colors that often extend full length of folio, some trimmed. Headings in red. Part II: Decorative initials, 8- to 2-line, alternate red and blue, with designs in contrasting colors; plain initials, 1-line, some with simple ornamentation, in red or blue throughout. Heading in red. Guide-letters in inner margin. Part III: Simple initials, a few with designs. Paragraphs marks in red and/or black. Guide-letters in outer and inner margins; notes to rubricator perpendicular to written space in gutter and outer margin. Headings in red., and Binding: Nineteenth century. In Latin., Script: written in late Caroline minuscule., and Decoration: 1-line initials in brown rustic capitals; the initials that begin new chapters are dotted with orange; punctuated with the punctus; hyphenation is in the same ink as the text; the marginal chapter headings are written by a contemporary hand in brown minuscule and are encircled in orange, with an orange line connecting each circle; the same orange is used to adorn the chapter initials and to mark roman numerals in the text.

Scribe D is the unrecorded Hinricus Landesberch in Wernigerode., Red underlining, paragraph marks, heightening of majuscules and plain initials, generally 2 lines, at the head of various texts larger. Pointing hands., The manuscript contains: 1) Honorius Augustodunensis (Honorius of Autun, c. 1090- c.1150), Expositio in psalmos CI-CL et in cantica veteris et novi testamenti. 2) Alanus de Insulis (Alain de Lille, c. 1120-1202), Glosatura super cantica veteris et novi testamenti. 3) Notes on the Book of Psalms, its subdivisions, significance, on Ps. 1 and Ps. 150, etc. 4) Extracts on the Psalms from a florilegium of the works by or attributed to St. Augustine, called Summula Florigeri sancti Augustini. 5) Treatise on the virtues and vices arranged according to the course of the sun through the signs of the Zodiac; the names of the months and of the zodiacal signs are given in Latin and in German, with examples from the Bible and legend. 6) Miracles and legends. 7) Copy of a notarial document. 8) Isidorus Hispalensis (Isidore of Seville, d. 636), Quaestiones in vetus testamentum. 9) Vision of the horrors of Hell shown to St. Paul of Thebe (Paulus Eremita, 228-341). 10) Rabbi Samuel, De adventu Messiae praeterito, translated from the Arabic by Alphonsus Bonihominis OP (d. c. 1353). 11) Two sermons on the Immaculate Conception, quoting many exempla. 12) Incomplete legend of St. Catharine of Alexandria. 13) Ps.-Augustinus Hipponensis, De essentia divinitatis: an excerpt from Eucherius Lugdunensis (Eucherius bishop of Lyons, d. c. 450), Formulae spiritalis intelligentiae, chapter 1., and Binding: original undecorated white deerskin over bevelled heavy wooden boards, sewn on three double thongs; spine with plaited headbands; in its upper compartment a paper label with a 17th-century indication of the content; in the second compartment a paper label with the number "VIII". On each cover five small brass bosses on indented square plates; marks of two leather straps attached to the rear cover, the holes of the pins visible in the front cover. At the top of the front cover a contemporary Table of Contents is written in ink in Gothica Hybrida Libraria, now badly legible; at the bottom of the same cover, in a large Gothica Hybrida Formata: "Tractatus Honorii pape" [sic]. The rear pastedown (half detached) consists of a large fragment and scraps on paper from a 15th-century Latin register of personal interdicts attached to persons with German names; the handwriting is Gothica Cursiva Currens.
