A bend, speckled in design and featuring seven ermine spots, is at the foreground of several counter-changed bars. At the top of the shield is a chief featuring the head and neck of a dragon flanked by a pair of annulets. At the crest, atop a torse, are the entwined heads and necks of two dragons. Below is the motto Labore et Perseverantia. Additionally, a note with the bookplate states that Laing was Physician to George IV.
